Why Geek Squad kinda sucks PDF Print E-mail

Geek Squad® is convenient because you can usually find one at your local Best Buy®. They Charge a "by the job" rate that is easy for most people to work with. If you want an operating system installed, then you need only pay them $129. If you need your data backed up from your old computer to your new one, then you need only pay them $159. "Straighforward" pricing such as this lulls people into a false sense of security. For example, consider replacing a hard drive. A job like that would take Gone.South.Compuing only a couple of hours from start to finish. Since we only charge a flat hourly fee, you can calculate how inexpensive it would be. A place like Geek Squad® that charges fees based on the job would nickel and dime much more money from it's patrons. For a hard drive, they will charge $69 for diagnostic PLUS $129 to re-install windows on the new drive PLUS $118 for Windows updates PLUS $159 to recover the data from the old drive with absolutely NO GURANTEE for their work.

Who wants to unhook their keyboard, mouse, monitor, printer, network, power and USB devices and lug their computer to their local Best Buy® just to be charged more than twice what other guys charge and wait weeks for their repairs instead of days or hours? Gone.South.Computing comes to you and we want your repeat business, so we will not be satisfied with our work until you are.

As with most things in life, it breaks down to simple economics. Gone.South.Computing charges only a $25 trip fee to come out and diagnose the problems with your computer or laptop. After that, an estimated time and cost for repair is quoted. If you think that you can get it done faster or cheaper elsewhere then the choice is yours. We are in the business of helping people, not scamming or scaring people.

Kris »Just talk to Matt first! He will come to you! I know Google maps has him located in Westport, but Matt is very accomodating. I gave him my laptop Wednesday and it was ready Thursday night. We arranged a pick-up for Friday. He stuck by his ballpark estimate in price (which was an entirely fair estimate). Seriously, don't even consider anyone else. Friday, 18 March 2011 00:00
